An old and closed mine located outside the village Three children died by drowning. These three children were siblings and had gone towards the mine while playing.
Tragic story of accident
This incident took place in Mehara police station area, where an unsafe mine filled with water became a death trap for children. According to locals, first a child fell into the mine while playing. While trying to save him, two other children also drowned in the mine water.
There is neither any fencing nor any warning board around this mine. Local people had earlier also complained to the administration about this mine which has been closed for years, but the result was zero.
Villagers erupted in anger
There is an atmosphere of anger in the village after the accident. People directly accused the administration and the mining department that this accident happened due to their negligence and indifference. Villagers say That those who take mining leases do not follow the rules, and the administration does not hold them to any kind of accountability.
Some villagers also claimed that when they protested against mining operations, the administration instead filed cases against them.
