NMC’s strict action on JNMC – what was the reason?
JNMC Medical Seats Cancelled This strict action by the National Medical Commission (NMC) has come after a CBI investigation, in which a senior doctor of NMC was caught red handed taking a bribe of ₹ 10 lakh during an inspection of JNMC. This doctor was taking bribe in exchange for making the inspection report of the college favorable.
Following the development, the NMC has taken “exemplary action” by:
Dismissing the renewal of UG and PG seats of JNMC.
All applications for increasing seats and starting new courses by the college have been cancelled.
The concerned NMC assessor has been blacklisted and investigation is pending.

NMC’s Policy on Corruption and Quality
NMC has once again made it clear that its approach is based on zero-tolerance towards corruption. To maintain the quality of medical education, NMC:
Expects institutions to have solid infrastructure, qualified faculty and proper patient care.
Recently, Medical Institutions (Qualifications of Faculty) Regulations, 2025 have been implemented, under which an attempt has been made to increase the capacity of education by bringing flexibility in the eligibility of faculty, but quality will not be compromised.
The action taken on JNMC is a strong message to other institutions that ethical and regulatory compliance is mandatory.
