GATE 2026 registration begins today Online registration for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2026) has started from today i.e. 28 August 2025. This year IIT Guwahati is conducting the exam. This is a national-level exam which is a golden opportunity for students from Engineering, Technology, Science, Commerce and Arts background.

Overview

GATE is a national-level examination that tests students’ understanding across Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce and Arts subjects. A valid GATE score is required for admission to postgraduate programs (M.Tech/Ph.D.) and for several PSU recruitment processes. This year’s organizing institute is IIT Guwahati.

Application Process (Step-by-Step)

The entire application process will be online through GOAPS Portal.
Visit the official website: Open gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
New Registration: Click on “New Registration” and create login credentials by entering basic details (Name, Email ID, Mobile No.).
Fill the form: After logging in, fill personal, academic, and communication details carefully. Also select preferred GATE paper(s) and exam city.
Upload documents: Upload passport-size photo, signature and required documents (in specified format/size).
Pay Application Fee:
Female/SC/ST/PwD: ₹1,000 (Regular) / ₹1,500 (Late)
Other Candidates: ₹2,000 (Regular) / ₹2,500 (Late)
Final Submit: After verifying the details, submit the form and print the confirmation page.

  • Passport-size Photograph – Recent (after 1 August 2025), white/light background
