CTET 2025: May now be mandatory for classes 9 to 12 as well

complete information:

CTET for Class 9 to 12 According to recent media reports and sources, now the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) can also be made mandatory for teachers of classes 9 to 12. Till now CTET was mandatory only for teachers of classes 1 to 8.
This major change is part of the reforms proposed under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) are working together on this and soon draft guidelines for this can be issued.

New CTET Paper for PGT:

CTET for Class 9 to 12 If this proposal is implemented, there will be a separate CTET paper for Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) which will be required to be cleared. The aim is to make teacher qualifications equal at all levels and improve the quality of education.
At present, B.Ed degree and post graduation in the relevant subject is mandatory to teach classes 9 to 12, but passing CTET was not necessary. After the new rules come, it will be necessary to qualify CTET to teach in CBSE-recognized schools.
