Mysterious Death of Nikita Meghwal in Jhunjhunu: Family Demands Justice

A cloud of sorrow hangs over the Gudha Gorji police station in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. The district is shaken by the mysterious and untimely death of a young woman, Nikita Meghwal. What was initially believed to be a case of suicide has now turned into a suspected murder investigation. Her family’s firm belief that she was killed has ignited a demand for justice across the region.

The Night of the Tragedy

The tragedy unfolded one evening when Nikita was rushed to the Udaipurwati Community Health Center (CHC) in an unconscious state. Reports confirmed that she had consumed a poisonous substance. Despite doctors’ efforts, she tragically passed away during treatment.
Her family members, who were present at the hospital, said she had been brought from Raghunathpura to Udaipurwati for treatment.
News of her death spread quickly, drawing crowds of villagers and relatives to the police station. While the initial police information suggested suicide, the family soon began to suspect foul play.

Family’s Firm Allegations

Jhunjhunu Nikita Meghwal case Nikita’s father, who works abroad, is convinced that his daughter did not take her own life. He believes she was murdered. His unwavering conviction has strengthened the family’s fight for justice.
Nikita’s brother Rohit recalled receiving a late-night phone call from relatives informing him of the incident. He rushed to the hospital and later joined the family at the police station to file a complaint.
The family has lodged a murder FIR against a man named Ashok, a resident of Raghunathpura.

The Connection with Ashok

According to the family, Ashok works as a bus driver, and Nikita used to travel in his bus while commuting to college. Over time, this acquaintance grew into a personal relationship. The family claims they were unaware of the relationship’s extent until the day of the incident.
A villager stated that around one and a half months ago, someone had sent photos of Nikita’s alleged marriage. However, her family denied giving consent for any such marriage and insisted that there was no family agreement for it.
Nikita’s mother confirmed that after those photos surfaced, there had been no contact or phone calls from her daughter for nearly two months.

Nikita’s Life Before the Incident

Before the tragedy, Nikita was working at a beauty parlor in Jaipur, where she had been living for about one and a half to two months. Her father, a laborer working overseas, supported the family through hard work. During her time in Jaipur, communication between Nikita and her family became infrequent.

The Family’s Key Demands

The Meghwal family has demanded a fair and transparent investigation. They have raised serious concerns over the initial assumption of suicide and have outlined four key demands:

  1. Immediate Arrest of Ashok: The family insists that Ashok’s arrest is necessary to uncover the truth.
  2. Post-Mortem in Jhunjhunu: They refuse to allow the post-mortem at Udaipurwati CHC and demand it be conducted at BD Hospital, Jhunjhunu, to ensure transparency.
  3. Identify Who Took Nikita to the Hospital: The family wants the police to investigate who transported Nikita from Raghunathpura to Udaipurwati, believing that person holds crucial information.
  4. Confirm the Real Cause of Death: They want a clear, official conclusion—was it truly suicide or murder?

Initially, the police were only informed that a girl from the village had died, but no cause of death was specified. The body remains at the Udaipurwati CHC mortuary.

Community Support and Solidarity

The grieving family is not alone. Local community members and organizations have stepped forward in support.
Pawan Meghwal, Tehsil President of the Bhim Army in Gudha Gorji, stated that the entire organization stands firmly with the family and will help them at every step in their fight for justice.
